Small Vimpulse Film Review – XMen : Dark Phoenix

First off I will give the Film a 5/10 because i am bias to Superhero films but others will give them a 2/10

Was X-Men dark phoenix actually a great film or was it just another flop for the company? There are a lot of ups and downs throughout the whole film as we do not know if Jean Grey is going to succumb to the evil thoughts that corrupt her or not?

X-Men Dark Phoenix was adopted by the X-Men Comics and the release date was June 7th, 2019, The director was Simon Kinberg, and the lead actors include James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto
Jennifer Lawrence as Raven / Mystique Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy / Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey / Phoenix, Tye Sheridan as Scott Summers / Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Ororo Munroe / Storm, Evan Peters as Peter Maximoff / Quicksilver and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler.

The conflict in this film was the Phoenix Force.
First off let’s see when it was first brought into the X-Men universe, it first appeared in the comic X-Men #101 and appeared when Jean Grey apparently died in that comic. The Phoenix Force brings a lot of new powers to the husk/user and also amplifies their current powers. A lot of times when someone gets the Phoenix Force they also get a new costume that normally symbolizes a phoenix. There have been a few occasions in the comics and some in movies where are the Phoenix fully takes over and the husk/user can’t control him or herself.

Phoenix Force - Morrison

In this film, we see a lot more of Jean Grey’s past. She has always had great power within her, and of how she was able to control most of that power thanks to Professor X. And mostly focuses on Jean Grey and the Phoenix Force as it does go into her during a near-death experience which is required for the host to stay alive.

I do believe the direction of the film was supposed to stand out from the others that were made in the past that had the Phoenix Force. Simon Kinberg is known for The Martian (2015), Logan (2017) and Fantastic Four (2015) and only one of those other films were a flop as well. The director was trying to imitate what he did with Fantastic Four 2015. So if you watch Fantastic Four 2015 you already know what’s probably going to happen within this film.

I love the way that they filmed every single scene, as they either had a dolly, panning, tracking shots, tilts and also drone shots. For example, the very first scene that they had of Jean Grey in the car with her family she wanted to change the station but her mother said no, but the station changed anyways and that went on for a little while until her father look back and we had a nice good zoom in to Jean Grey with her eyes closed whispering stop it stop it.

Their costume design came right out of the comic books and i will leave that at that

The kind of computers I use define my work capabilities

The kind of computers I use to define my work and quality. First off, I use a combo of a Tablet, a Mac-book pro, and a Custom Computers.
The Windows 8.1 tablet is used for on the go photo-editing. On the tablet, I use Affinity Designer as it is a one time fee and can download it on multiple computers, so I can do some basic edits on the go and then continue with a heavy edit on my beefy computer. It is also used for media viewing, email, video calls, and also for OneNote (OneNote is a program that is like Microsoft word but it is free, and you can access it online or offline with the app)

My MacBook Pro is used as a primary mobile video editing station. The MacBook has everything I need on it, all the way from photo, video, and audio editing software. This laptop is mostly used when I am on vacation, or far from home. It is great having something portable because it allows me to have something I call content flow. Content flow means keeping your content and work performance moving so you don’t fall behind and lose money.

Then there are my Custom Desktops. It is a behemoth of parts that are imperative for any media entire level editing entrepreneur. On the desktops, I have all the same software as I do on the MacBook. I use the desktops for heavy editing, special effects, and also enhanced GPU rendering. I equip one desktop with two monitors and one with a TV to create my edit. The TV is also connected to all of my devices.
Monitor one is used for the timeline, audio tab and the bins that store all the files that I need
Monitor two is for the source tab for the files that come from the bin to insert into the timeline
And the TV is used for the source tab to view the timeline, the color spectrum, and the editing tab to move the position and or to change the effects that I use in my videos/short films.
